Atlanta, Georgia, November 9, 2007 -- The World's Gate, Inc. announced today the release of a new version of its Internet anti-censorship tool, FirePhoenix (v. 3.1).
FirePhoenix (FP) is a software tool to protect Internet users' privacy and identity
when they surf the Net. It effectively encrypts all the users' Internet traffic and masquerades their IP addresses. In addition, it provides users with unrestricted access to Internet when their Internet connections are filtered, monitored or blocked, such as the users living in Internet-censorship countries.
Since its initial release in July 2006, FP has been widely used by web surfers in repressive regimes to defeat Internet censorship. It is particularly popular in China due to the Chinese user interface in current releases. Its popularity also attracted targeted blocking from the censors. The new version, v. 3.1, is built upon the successes and experiences from the previous versions under the complex network environment in the repressive regimes, with enhanced anti-blocking capability, stability and speed.
"We have not been able to use FP for quite a while here ... Now I got online with the new official version 3.1. It gets connected real fast, much much faster than before ... Glad web surfers in mainland China have another sharp anti-blocking tool now." A FP user with the handle "Watching Cosmos" on FP's user community forum, qxbbs.org, reported.
FP v. 3.1 can be downloaded from its official website http://hfh.edoors.com. The user community forum http://www.qxbbs.org also provides official copies for download, as well as user feedbacks and knowledge exchanges.
Currently FP v. 3.1 runs on Windows XP, 2000 and NT. It does not run on Vista for now. World.s Gate plans to add its capability to run on Vista in future versions.
